Jessie is one of the main characters for the Avalanche sub-unit in Midgar, together with Barret, Biggs and Wedge.
In the original Final Fantasy 7, Jessie is presumed to be dead alongside Biggs and Wedge during the fight at the Sector 7 pillar.
Their deaths were not shown directly but they are assumed to have died off-screen.
In FF7 Remake, Jessie is seen to be dying at the pillar when you meet her with Tifa.
So did Jessie really die in the Remake? Will she come back to life for part 2 of the game seeing how the plot ghosts have been stopped?
Jessie may still be alive
During the ending cutscenes of Final Fantasy 7’s Remake, Jessie’s gloves seem to be on the desk in the room where Biggs is resting.
There’s also a headband there but that might just be Biggs’.
Yep, Biggs is alive at the end of the game.
This seems to hint that Jessie is still around and it really looks like her gloves, if you compare it to other scenes in the game.
You can see her gloves a couple of times in the game and it looks similar to hers, especially with the red strap on the gloves.
Difference with Biggs’ gloves
Some said that those are just Biggs’ gloves but the one Biggs is seen wearing looks different.
His doesn’t have those thin straps and they seem to be of a different color. In Biggs’ apparent death scene, you can see his gloves clearly as he reached out for Cloud’s hand.
How can she possibly survive?
The only way that Jessie is possibly alive is due to the main characters messing with the timeline.
After Cloud and the rest defeated Whisper Harbinger, the timeline seems to have been messed with.
During the ending scenes, you should be able to see those bright glitters in the sky after the explosion.
The explosion was witnessed by Zack as well in the past.
It seems like the alteration of the timeline applies to both present and past (where Zack was).
And since Zack was kept alive, other characters like Biggs and Jessie may have been kept alive too.
So how did she survive the collapse of the plate in Sector 7? Maybe Cait Sith (who was shown when the plate was falling) rescued her?
Perhaps in the new timeline, she wasn’t even part of Avalanche and leads a completely different life than the one you know of.
